The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) conference is next week. Normally, conferences are a time where my number of tweets per day skyrocket as I hear interesting things and try to bring the essence of the conference to people in the Twitterverse. The problem is that my regular followers on Twitter can get overwhelmed and turned off by the huge increase in tweets.
Most people follow conferences by the hashtag. In this case, it would be #IAEM. It seems to make sense to create a Twitter account specifically for the conference and post all conference related tweets to that account.
Now it is time for a little experiment. I’ve created @krobertoryIAEM for all my conference session related tweets. The information still gets out, but my primary Twitter account of @krobertory stays relatively stable.
Let me know what you think about this idea. Do you like the people you follow to be predictable? Are you forgiving of the twitterrhea that comes when people attend conferences?
